How do you decide between the two?
The world’s two most popular mobile platforms are now on a face off to increase their market share. The rest are just too far behind to even think of themselves a competitor. So now as a developer who would you choose to develop for. My favourite, and I will provide you with enough points to prove, will be Android and yes, hands down, it wins.
- The Market Share
- Portability
- Java
- Pricing
For users, Android devices are far more affordable than IOS devices. Entry level Android smart phones and tabs are produced in numbers and prices IOS will never be able to compete.

Who wins?
The battle to gain supremacy in the field of mobility is the current tech trend. The future of technology lies in accessibility and both Android and iOS are hard at work to overcome challenges. While Androids inherent advantage of mass can also be a disadvantage, especially for developers with lesser resources, iOS’ niche market can be a good point to start with. However, the share of people using it will again balance the initial advantages.
Our advice would be to prepare for both. A freemium model would do better on Android than on iOS while you’re more likely to have people buy your apps on iOS. With a good user base and the new Android OS, you’re more likely to benefit with your app on Android; however, you potentially cannot ignore Apple’s loyal user base where apps are more likely to be purchased than the Google Play Store.
